Akhilesh-Congress to Tackle AIMIM Challenge as Owaisi’s Party Contests Elections on 20 Minority-Dominated Seats in UP

AIMIM State President Shaukat Ali has revealed that his party will contest elections on minority-dominated seats in the state. It has been stated that they will contest on 20 such seats in the state. The state president mentioned that a proposal has been sent to the national president, and once approval is received, the process of candidate selection will begin after receiving the green signal.

Asaduddin Owaisi’s party, the All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM), is preparing to contest elections on 20 minority-majority Lok Sabha seats in the state. These include prominent seats like Azamgarh, Sambhal, Badaun, Meerut, Moradabad, Amroha, Bijnor, and Phulpur. The party’s state unit has sent a proposal to the national president, Asaduddin Owaisi, to contest elections on 20 seats. AIMIM’s state president, Shaukat Ali, mentioned that their party will contest elections on minority-majority seats in the state. It has been discussed to contest on 20 such seats in the state. The state president mentioned that a proposal has been sent to the national president, and once approval is received, the process of candidate selection will begin after receiving the green signal.

It is noteworthy that in the 2022 assembly elections, AIMIM contested on 95 seats in the state. Although it did not win any seat, it did succeed in gaining 2.01 percent of the vote share. At that time, Owaisi had visited several districts for campaigning. When Owaisi enters the fray, it not only results in a dispersion of minority votes but also directly impacts the vote share of the Samajwadi Party.
